1 John 5:1-12

(1 John 5:1-12) Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth. For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.  If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.  He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.  He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

 

『 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. 』

 

Those who believe in Jesus are born of God. Those who are born of God are followers of the Spirit. In Romans 8:5 『For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. He who thinks of the work of the spirit is the one whose fresh body is dead. Soon believing that Jesus is the Christ means believing that Jesus is the dead on the cross for the ransom in this world. That is why sinners are united with Christ. Because it is to save all humanity.

 

Those born of God are born again in spirit. In Romans 6:5, "For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:" Only those who died with Jesus become children of God in Christ. God gave birth to the saints in Christ Jesus as His children.

 

『 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous 』 Commandments are love. What do Saints love? It is the love of the spirit. It is to save the dead spirit. That is why "making the living spirit react to God" is the love of the spirit. To save the neighbor's dead spirit is to love the spirit, so loving is never a difficult and difficult word. People in this world think of love based on the flesh, but God's love is based on the spirit. The word "God loves the world" is an expression of love to save the dead spirit in the world. Christ's death is death to save the spirit.

In the water, the body of flesh dies and is reborn as the body of spirit by the power of the Holy Spirit. Blood is a sign of the new covenant of Jesus Christ. So, those who enter the new covenant become the ones who eat the flesh of Jesus and drink the blood of Jesus. Those who deny self become those who overcome the world. Because the identity of self is greed that loves this world. If the fresh body (old man: self) does not die with Jesus Christ, the saint cannot overcome the world.

 

『 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.  He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.  He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life..』 Faith in Jesus Christ is God's eternal life. This is faith from heaven. Although I don't get by believing in Jesus, it is a gift from God when I am united with Jesus Christ. Those who deny this cannot gain eternal life. If faith does not come from God, you will still be in sin. In Galatians 3:23『 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. 』
